What will happen if I steam-vacuum a sofa which says Dry-Clean Only?

I really would like to steam-vac my sofa! I don't believe dry cleaning it would really clean it, and I would really prefer to steam vacuum it using the upholstery detergent that came with the vacuu that I just purchased.
