What's in for Summer Dresses 2011?
With the British summer finally upon us, the time has come at last to start making new additions to our wardrobes in preparation for the hotter months ahead. While summer weather in the UK is always unpredictable, it's still a great time to let your hair down and enjoy the wonderful sensation that only wearing a fantastic summer dress can bring. This year's leading trends don't offer much in the way of daring innovation but instead build upon well-loved designs that have proved extremely popular over the years.
The maxi dress has demonstrated enduring popularity over the last few years, a remarkable achievement in an industry that is constantly on the move in the wake of shifting trends. Maxi dresses are greatly prized for their versatility and the label has come to encompass everything from elegant long evening dresses to floral print dresses made from light fabrics that are perfect for a summer day spent shopping in the city or relaxing in a park. Designers have increasingly moved into the maxi dress market, adding additional flourishes such as strapless or single-shouldered designs and extra embellishment around the bodice.
Sundresses are another perennial favourite and their retro chic has won them new fans this year thanks to the success of popular period television dramas like Mad Men. Sundresses are simple and versatile and manage to combine elegance and practicality in a timeless design. They are usually made from lighter fabrics, making them an excellent choice for keeping cool in the summer sun and while they are mainly associated with informal wear, the addition of a few choice accessories and a pair of trousers make them ideal for casual evening wear. Like maxi dresses, they are available in a wide variety of styles and colours to suit every taste.
When it comes to styles, vintage is in for Spring/Summer 2011 in a big way. Floral prints are enjoying new popularity after being out of fashion for quite some time and various other kooky fifties and sixties inspired styles, such as leaf and fish prints are back too. Crinkle and pleated designs are also in this season and have been adopted by many designers keen to experiment with the potential of multiple layers of fabric. Simple single colour dresses in shades like tan and brilliant white are popular too and help to bring out the fundamental elegance of designs like the sundress.
This season's top summer dresses are undeniably inspired by classic designs and styling yet all have something of a modern twist thrown into the mix, whether it is in the length of the hemline, the fabrics used or the vibrancy of the colour prints. No matter what your preference, you will be sure to find something that fits with your own personal style this summer.

Hottest Looks For Right Now
You do not have to be a supermodel to look great and be up to date with your fashion. Without spending thousands you can update your wardrobe easily and always look put together and in mode.
Something that every woman should use frequently and with great enthusiasm is an eau de parfum spray. Fragrance is just as much a fashion item as clothing and it can make you feel wonderful when you spray on a dash of your scent before going out. You can stick to the classic scents, but there are also trends towards a romantic floral and powdery scent at present. Having more than one is a great idea as you can then match the scent to your outfit and the occasion.
With regards to your wardrobe there is a crossover between the bohemian maxi dresses and a comeback in eighties inspired fashion with little tight dresses showing off your womanly curves. This is a fun time for fashion with wearers able to mix and match some out there styles with more classic design pieces.
Essentials that you should have in your shoe wardrobe include a brown boot to be dressed up or down, some hot pumps to show off your pins in their best light and if you are game a pair of sky high heels in an almost ankle boot design. Hot colors around now include deep purple and skin tone and floral prints are huge especially in skirts and little dresses.
When it comes to sleepwear there is a move away from the cute, girlish designs that have been prominent and a move towards more of the stronger colors. Power dressing a la eighties is coming back and it is extending even into the bedroom.
Makeup is also very fashion focused and it should reflect the clothes you are wearing. There is a move away from the nude colors and soft pastel shades that have been common and more of an emphasis on bold colors. Lashes should stand out by applying a couple of layers of black mascara and a red lipstick is indispensable.
You should not seize every fashion that comes around, if you do you will begin to look a little too much of a fashion follower. You should keep up to date, but pick and choose the trends to follow according to what you like and what will suit you and your shape and coloring.
