The Nikon corporation was established when 3 leading optical manufacturers merged to form a fully integrated optical company on July 25, 1917. This corporation became the leading manufacturer of optical lenses that are being used in the making of inspection equipments, microscopes, binoculars, and of course, cameras. The company had a vital function during the war because they produced the equipment used by the soldiers. Nikon was one of those corporations which assisted greatly towards the success of the Japanese during the war.
In the 1950s and 1960s rangefinder cameras competed with the Leica and Zeiss brands, however, it ceased operation and focused on the Nikon F single-lens reflex line of cameras which became a huge success. After 30 years, many photographers used the tiny small format cameras by Nikon. Nikon camera was a good brand for good cameras.
The Nikon D3x model was introduced in the 3rd quarter of 2007. The camera was really made for its speed. The 36 x 23.9 mm CMOS sensor provides a resolution of 24.5 megapixels. D3X users have to accept a smaller range of sensitivity (ISO 100 to 1600, extendable to ISO 50 to 6400) and slower continuous shooting of five frames per second (7 fps in DX mode) in return.
If you are a photographer then you need a long lasting camera. And with durability, it means that your camera should have no plastic parts that wear out, such as plastic battery doors, plastic CF card doors, plastic door catches, plastic rewind cranks, or plastic lens mounts. A good camera must also have utility. It means that it is easy to use and can be easily adjusted.
This means that it must have direct access to each of the exposure modes, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance and quality settings. The camera must have a single button access to these features, menu or multi-function menus do not count. The lenses should also serve the differnt needs. If your camera has a slower sync than 1/250 and if you have to spin a knob to go through a menu to get to the ISO and white balance setting, then it is not a professional camera. It is a toy.

I am setting up a new lab so i have a lot of this sort of questions. And i don't think they will appreciate it if i put all of them of the institure mailing list.

For your question about cameras, do you want to use a single camera which you can switch between both microscopes? If so what kind of mount/port does either microscope have for a camera (identical, different, e.g. c-mount). What kind of samples do you view (brightfield or fluorescence). What image resolution do you need? How much money do you want to spend? Do you already have a computer dedicated to a camera system or not? Contact your local Leica/Olympus/Zeiss/ Nikon representative for suggestions and a quote. If you get seriously interested in a camera system they should also be willing to demo it on your equipment before you buy it.
Why do you need to clean a liquid nitrogen tank?If it is one which keeps gas under pressure then you don't open it. You get a new one when you order new nitrogen anyway.
If it's one like a dewar vessel storing liquid nitrogen until it gets used let all liquid nitrogen evaporate and the tank get to room temperature. Clean like you would clean any thermos. Make sure it's completely dry before using again.
