So I was told by my counselor that both pell grant and texas exc. grant had to bet the same and also the acg amount. but it sounds to good to be true I would have more than enough momey to go to UH

As will your loans... as they are all federal funds as well. It looks like the only FEDERAL amount that will change if you change schools is the parent PLUS loan. This loan will increase if you choose a more expensive school. Be aware your parents pay back the parent loan, not you.

You might consider this. If your parents are willing, and you don't want to take out loans, ask them to do a parent PLUS loan and you NOT do the Stafford loans. This is how my awesome parents paid for my first two years of undergrad. I didn't take out any loans, they did. Of course, with your Pell grant amounts, it tells me they are low income already and may not be able to afford making loan payments for you for the next 10 years.

Your Texas excellence grant I'm assuming is a TEXAS grant.
Keep in mind this means it will only be good at schools in TEXAS.
Not sure what UH is (Univ of Houston?) but if it's in Texas and its got a federal school code, you are good to go.
